The Canadian Ethnocultural Council as was contracted as a national stakeholder to work in partnership with Elections Canada to conduct electoral outreach with ethnocultural groups, as part of a strategy to reach target communities. The purpose of the project was to ensure all Canadians were informed about where, when and ways to register and vote in the 42nd GE.
The project engaged the communities in sharing knowledge and increasing awareness so that ethnocultural electors in Canada were informed of the programs and services offered by Elections Canada in the lead-up to and to receive information on where, when and ways to register and vote in the 42nd GE. The mains activities included: 12 information sessions directed toward ethnocultural voters 4 cities; distribution of Elections Canada materials; and online and media dissemination of Elections Canada messages. The info-sessions were conducted in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver with various ethnocultural communities.
