The Vietnamese Youth Action Committee of the Vietnamese Canadian Federation was founded in 2007 and is currently working on some projects sponsored by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Following the dialogue from the 2010 national Vietnamese youth survey and national workshop, the Vietnamese Youth Action Committee (VYAC) is launching the establishment of a national network of young Vietnamese Canadians (12- 25 year olds) for mutual support, inspiration, and success on the personal and community levels. Based on participants’ needs and interests, this project will match young people to mentors at the peer and inter-generational levels. The mentorship is being launched from December 2011 to January 2012 in five cities (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal) with the collaboration of local community organizations. In Ottawa, in partnership with the Vietnamese Canadian Community of Ottawa (VCCO), the VYAC is currently recruiting mentees and mentors for the Reach for the Stars mentorship program. The mentorship launch in Ottawa will be on Sunday January 8, 2012 at the Plant Recreation Centre (930 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, K1R 6R9, Phone: 613-232-3000), from 10:30 am to 1 pm. The registration deadline isJanuary 22, 2012. For more information, please go to http://www.vietfederation.ca.
